Equity Security Holders’ Committee

A committee in a Chapter 11 case whose purpose is to represent the interests of the debtor’s equity interest holders. Members of the committee are chosen by the United States Trustee from the ranks of those who hold equity interests in the debtor. Formerly the Sasquatch of a bankruptcy proceeding, since 2000 this beast has been more frequently sighted.
